 Fraternity. Sorority. a brotherly fellowship. and by extension deep friendship camaraderie. Brotherly- pertaining to or like a brother; showing kindness. Most college universities have their brotherly organizations. Fraternity for boys. Sorority for girls. or could be a combination. But what's really the goal of this formed organizations? I've got some friends who engaged themselves in organizations like those. and well, some gave me convincing answers of what's really their organization's goals are. here are some : *to gain self-confidence. *to win friends. *to socialize with people of different species. *to be away from harmful elements of this world, such as engaging to prohibited drugs. Take note of the fourth answer. to be away from harmful elements. i heard the news about a UP graduating student named Chris Anthony Mendez who engaged himself in a fraternity . he just died because of the brutal hazing being done to him. he died! I've search for the definition of "hazing", and this what popped out: "To play practical jokes upon". practical jokes. is death a practical JOKE?! IS DEATH REALLY A PART OF A FRATERNITY/SORORITY??! its so alarming, because as what i have observed, many youngsters are engaging themselves in fraternities/sororities. many of them aimed at gaining self confidence and winning friends around. none of them for sure aimed at reaching the point of death. is "brutal hazing" really a ritual portion for the new comers?! I've been hearing lots of incidence like this, and it really give me goosebumps. i might be acting so corny about it, but i guess its just one of my simple way of showing my concern to those people who are planning to enter organizations who have "brotherly" goals.. don't dare end up your life with a hit from a "paddle".. |
